5S Cleaning Checklist

Organization and cleanliness are two key ingredients of workplace safety and productivity. And they’re most effective when taught from the very beginning of the onboarding process.

Aside from training, though, workers need to have the tools and equipment to keep their workspaces clean. This includes things like:

  • Cleaning supplies
  • Storage locations
  • Access to easy equipment repair/replacement
  • Standards of cleanliness

Use the 5S cleaning checklist to methodically audit or transform a workspace. This checklist takes you through the 5S’s:

  1. Sort
  2. Set in order
  3. Shine
  4. Standardize
  5. Sustain

Take the time to go through each area of the workstation and correct organizational issues. Once you’ve set up the area the way you want it, make sure you communicate the changes to anyone affected by them.
