Staircase Inspection Checklist

Maintaining a safe building is all about keeping areas clean and compliant with safety regulations. But with regular cleaning and sufficient oversight, maintaining a safe staircase shouldn’t be too difficult.

One thing that helps is scheduling weekly inspections to ensure that there are no hazards clogging the stairwells. This inspection checklist covers some basic staircase safety guidelines that you want to follow. Some of those include:

  • Removing slip and trip hazards
  • Ensuring landings are compliant with OSHA requirements
  • Having sturdy handrails

Fill out the checklist and store a copy either in your facility or within the cloud (using EHS software) for easy access. If you do find any issues during your inspection, don’t forget to take corrective action and follow up so you know you’ve fixed the problem.
