Crane Inspection Checklist

Completing regular inspections of your heavy equipment is an essential workplace safety practice. This checklist makes it easy to assess the overall condition of crane equipment and to determine whether it’s safe to operate.

It includes two sections, one for the truck and the other for the boom. You’ll want to create a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure that any issues you find during the inspection are quickly fixed.

You should give each line item on the checklist either a “pass” or “fail” designation, and then take the crane out of service if any failed items affect the operator’s safety. In most cases, a failed line item should warrant a repair before you use the crane again.
