Fire Extinguisher Inspection Checklist

Regardless of how many fire extinguishers you have at your business, you need to complete a monthly inspection to ensure they’re in working condition. Additionally, you should keep a log of all checks within the last 12 months for regulatory compliance.

This one-page fire extinguisher inspection form covers the basic criteria you’d want to cover, including:

  • Condition of the equipment
  • Location and storage of the equipment
  • Signage
  • Labeling
  • Repair, replacement, or disposal

You’ll also need to put the equipment ID and manufacture data, as well as the type of fire extinguisher on this inspection form. If any questions are answered with a “no” response, you’ll need to address the issue before you can put the equipment back into service.

Print out the template for manual recordkeeping or use it as a digital form within your data management system.
